Tamanoi

Tamanoi

It is said to be the oldest well in Japan since ancient times in the gods, and it is said that it was used in the morning and evening by Princess Toyoda, the princess of Hikobane Hoori. The well still remains as an archaeological site, and the area around it is known by the place name "Tamai".

Lake Ikeda

Lake Ikeda

Lake Ikeda is the largest lake in Kyushu, with a circumference of 15km and a depth of 233m, and was created by volcanic activity about 6400 years ago. The water of the lake is clear indigo, and you can see Mt. Kaimondake called Satsuma Fuji. Giant mottled eels with a body length of 2 m and a waist circumference of 50 cm inhabit and are also famous as the lake of the phantom monster "Issie".

Kaimondake

A volcano with an altitude of 924m located at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. It was designated as Kirishima Yaku National Park on March 16, 1964 (Showa 39).

A lake with a mysterious atmosphere, about 4.2km in circumference, located in the mountains about 4km southwest of Ibusuki city. The Onsen on the banks is the only simple sulfur spring in the Ibusuki area and is said to be effective against skin diseases. It is also famous that Saigo Takamori was cured by hot water.
